REGISTER EARLY, SPACE IS LIMITED!

Note: This course is offered by the Knight Program in Community Building in conjunction with the National Charrette Institute (NCI). It is organized as two modules: an introductory half-day course with open enrollment followed by an intensive 2.5-day course limited to 35 participants, leading to an NCI Charrette Planner Certificate from NCI.

How can the public process be organized to create win-win outcomes for communities and developers? What role can charrettes (public design workshops) play in community planning and real estate development? What are the most effective ways to conduct a charrette? This intensive, two-part certificate training addresses these questions and more, exploring the nexus between public participation and the design of livable communities.

The NCI Certificate Program includes the necessary tools and techniques to prepare you for planning and managing a charrette. The course offers a complete overview of the NCI Dynamic Planning process, which provides holistic solutions to design and public involvement obstacles encountered in most conventional  planning processes. The course is newly updated and expanded. Upon completion of the course (parts I and II), attendees will receive an NCI certificate of completion as well as a copy of The Charrette Handbook.

Participants should include anyone who wants to learn about this powerful collaborative planning process, including elected officials, planning staff, developers, and concerned citizens.

Introduction to Dynamic Planning: The NCI Charrette in Context

PART II - Janaury 16, 1pm - 4:30pm, January 15, 9am - 4:30pm, January 18, 9am - 4:30pm
Continuing NCI Dynamic Planning: Charrette Planning and Set up (Newly updated and expanded)
2.5-day workshop
(Module Two of the NCI Charrette Planner Certificate Program)
